Repurpose Toys as Art!: Inspired by Honolulu Biennial Artist Maika’i Tubbs
Give new life to your old toys! Bring in a small toy that needs to be jazzed up (and can be painted!). Add a fresh coat of paint and design a background to turn your toy into an art piece! This workshop is inspired by HB19 artist Maika’i Tubbs. Maika’i creates beautiful and elaborate sculptures and installations using found debris, touching on themes of obsolescence, consumption, and ecology. Lily Hebert is an art teacher at University Laboratory School and will lead this workshop.
